   Other than J.K. Rowling, Sarah Dessen is my go to author! When I first read about this book, I was already to countdown for when I could get it. She is an amazing YA author who, in many ways, touch on teen and young adult problems. Out of many of her books, this would have to be one of the darker books she has written. The lead character Sydney is one that I can relate to because of her of living in the shadow of her brother and other reasons. Sydney’s new group of friends are a mix of oddness and awesomeness.
   Her new girl power BFF is nuts about french-fries, how they’re cooks, what to dip them, and so on. Mac always reading textbooks and helping his family; Mac is simple sweet. There’s her old friends, her family, the Chatham family; there are many different characters in the story. These are little things brings a character to life. The plot it’s self was a quilt of a lot of littler plots woven into one. I liked how they all different time lines that becomes one. It goes from band problems, sick mom, to pizza shop, to family problems to fights between friends, and can’t forget boy drama. This book has a lot going on but while written into a slower speed than many other books with many small plots. The book could be seen as slow at time, but it’s those simple parts that I enjoyed about this book. If it wasn’t for them working on homework or helping a friend who’s drank too much, the slower parts, stories would be rushed. Plus these are all parts that helps develop the plot.
   Over all this is a wonderful story, for sure in my top five favorite books of Sarah Dessen! This is Sarah Dessen classic!
