Music Monday meme #1

Music Monday is a weekly book meme. Everyone can join in, you just have to do the following:
  • Choose a book or a scene from a book.
  • Choose a song that fits said book or scene.
  • Tell us why you paired them together.
  • Don't forget to share the title and author.
  • Be careful not to include spoilers!

Song:

Sara Bareilles - Brave

 Far From You by

About the book:
Nine months. Two weeks. Six days.

That's how long recovering addict Sophie's been drug-free. Four months ago her best friend, Mina, died in what everyone believes was a drug deal gone wrong - a deal they think Sophie set up. Only Sophie knows the truth. She and Mina shared a secret, but there was no drug deal. Mina was deliberately murdered.

Forced into rehab for an addiction she'd already beaten, Sophie's finally out and on the trail of the killer - but can she track them down before they come for her?

Why? Well there's not much I can say that would give away the story. But the main reason is because there are characters that are scared or to shy to be themselves. That is the main reason I choice this song for this book. I love them both. The book has a wow power just like this song has a strong message they go well together.

Fanfic? Why? See my points...

Fanfic? Fanfiction? Doesn't matter what you call it, there are people, a lot, who look down upon it. It's a fact. No covering the truth or try to hide, I know it and you know it. I'm not writing this to say you have to like it, that's your choice. I respect your choice, not lying, I do. But I've read and talked to people that's have had people post or tell them that they're not real writers, that their stories are stupid. The point of writing, to me at less, is to bring people together. No matter what the story is. Not matter, who wrote it or the topic. Writing means “the activity or skill of marking coherent words on paper and composing text.” (From goggle) To me, I believe that writing is putting words together that brings feelings, tells a story and makes you think.
I love the fact that there are teenagers in today's world who is reading and writing; it's a gift within itself. Out of the kids in my family, looks like I'm the only one who's going to end up with this passion of writing stories, maybe my littlest brother. I don't write fanfic's because the topic and it's all I can think about. I write them because it's what people in this this generation is reading. It's a way that I can learn what I need to work on as a writer. The more you write, the better you become. There's been times that teens have read a fanfic, then asked if I have original stories because they've enjoyed my writing style.
The point of this is, just because someone writes fanfic, doesn’t mean they can't write, hat they're not really telling stories. I'm not tell you or anyone how to think or anything, I believe in being yourself, believing, acting, loving who ever or what every your heart tells you. I'm just pointing out that there are real people behind fanfics, people who have feelings, who may have a passion for writing but haven't found that story of their own. Maybe they're too scared to share original, or just love writing. I know some people who lately be feeling down, feelings hurt because of this. Just because someone doesn’t like something, doesn’t give the right to show hate.

Another great blogger published a Fanfic topic here:
“Understandably, the idea of writing any story can be daunting. There are many different factors that go into making a story "real" to the reader. These include characters and characterization, plot, setting and theme. Luckily for the aspiring fanfiction writer, half of these criteria are already filled out for you.
When writing fanfiction you are writing in homage to the original work, and in most cases are using either the pre-established characters, the pre-established setting, or both. This makes the writing considerably more focused and will allow you to isolate the individual areas which you need to improve. The main focus of a Fanfiction writer should be on the development of characterization. Use the already established characters and learn how to develop them realistically. This pursuit will lead you to observe how people function and think, and how personalities develop over time. These practices will encourage more deep and meaningful thought within you.

Five random questions about me...

1.) What is your favorite technology gadget and why? Would have to been my iPod or Laptop; I never like going anywhere with out them. I never know when I'll have to write an idea down or something.

2.) Favorite type of cookie? Cookies! Ohh, ummm, right now is this peanut one.... I can't think of it but you can never go wrong with a chocolate chip!

3.) Which animal scares you most, snake or lion or crocodile? Snake, hands down, without even thinking about it!

Everybody's Got A Price

Everybody's Got A Price - a short story I've written for a Movellas competition

Blurb -
In a world where money and price tags matter, Brynlee soon finds herself waking up in the hospital, not remember why or how she ended up there. But only that she lost one of her best-friends. Who she really didn't know. On a path of leaner who her best-friend, she'll more then she sat out too.

Clip -
"Looking back at Elsie, I could see pain and sadness across her face. Elsie's brown hair stopped right around her shoulders. Her soft blue eyes were red and puff, lips a pale pink. She looked as if she hasn't been sleeping in a while. Waiting to ask why but nothing came out. Her eyes filled with tears as she rang the nurse button.
A middle age nurse with, blonde hair in a bun, comes over to me. Her eyes are a chocolate brown, a sweet smile slips across her pink lips.
“Welcome back, angle.” Running her hand over my head."

24/04/2014 - Least favorite book -

This is hard as I've read all the books a few time, I mean, who hasn't but I love them all. So this is quite a hard question but it I had to pick one I would have to say... most likely would be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, not because I didn't like it. I loved it. And cried, and cried a lot while read this one and after reading it. I would have to say its my least favorite because so many of my all time favorite characters died in it, but mostly because it was the end. The ending to something that's always been a part of my life and sill it today, will always be.

Golden Eyes - short story

Golden Eyes
A new short story I was writing for a competition. I'm loving the characters that are developing. Thinking about truing it into a full novel. Here's a small clip of the opening...

Clip -
"Staring into the mirror, something I do often. Looking strait into my eyes, I watch them. As if something going to happen. But they're eye's all the can do is see. My dark hair fall right around my shoulders, I look averaged. That is until it comes to my eyes. There are a dark but bright green. Nothing different, excerpt the gold within the green. The gold looks as if its growing from my pupil. I gaze at the gold, as if maybe, some how it will vanish. But the golden lines seem as if there're froze into place."
